Pick the Wick.
Selecting a fabric that keeps you cool while making you look effortlessly refined is key. Moisture-wicking fabric enhances your experience by absorbing sweat, keeping you refreshed and dry throughout your sessions. This magical fabric provides the breathability you need for optimal comfort.
Why Moisture-Wicking Fabric?
The fabric remains dry and non-sticky.
Sweat plays a crucial role in regulating body temperature. When your workout clothes absorb sweat, they can initially make you feel hot and, once saturated, make you feel cold.
The technology used in our moisture-wicking garments has two key functions:
- It quickly moves sweat to the fabric's outer surface.
- It prevents the fabric from becoming saturated by rapidly drying sweat.
As a result, you feel more at ease since your body can better regulate its temperature.
Understanding Moisture-Wicking Fabric
Many people confuse moisture-wicking fabrics with breathable fabrics. Most moisture-wicking fabrics are breathable, but not all breathable fabrics are moisture-wicking. Moisture-wicking fabrics absorb sweat through the spaces between the fabric fibres, whereas breathable fabrics lack the sweat-absorbing properties responsible for moisture-wicking.
When choosing moisture-wicking activewear, look for properties like “dry-fit,” “sweat-absorbing,” “antimicrobial,” “antibacterial,” “stay-dry,” or “fast-drying.”
Are Moisture-Wicking Fabrics Waterproof?
The answer is no.
Moisture-wicking fabrics are not waterproof. Waterproofing and moisture-wicking are two different technologies. Waterproof materials do not allow moisture to enter the fabric, while moisture-wicking fabrics transfer moisture to the outer surface.
Some sweat-absorbing fabrics can be tightly woven and layered with polyurethane to make them highly absorbent, but they may not be waterproof. Thus, moisture-wicking fabrics can be moisture-resistant but cannot be waterproof.
If you’re someone who likes to break a sweat, moisture-wicking fabrics are a testament to the remarkable advancements in textile technology.
